Crafted in the Netherlands since 1899, Rembrandt oil colours are developed through pure skill and artistic insight using the finest raw materials available. These extra-fine quality paints are ground multiple times on a triple roller mill to achieve exceptional artists' fineness. They offer a uniform, buttery, and pasty consistency that beautifully retains clear brushstrokes. The range features 120 incredibly pure and intense colours—including 57 mono-pigmented shades—all boasting the highest degree of lightfastness.

Benefits of high pigmentation and painting tips:

Rembrandt colours are formulated with a remarkably high concentration of premium-quality pigments. Deserving special mention are the range's transparent oxide colours (such as Transparent Oxide Red), which provide an unparalleled, fiery glow for glazing techniques, as well as the historical cadmium colours, renowned for their extraordinary brightness and opacity.

  • Economic use: Because of the extremely high pigment load, a little paint goes a very long way. The colours maintain their vivid intensity even when thinned heavily with painting mediums or mixed with large amounts of white.
  • Clean mixes: The extensive use of single pigments means you can confidently mix your own shades without the risk of creating muddy or dull colours.
  • Glazing: Utilize the highly transparent colours (like the oxides) mixed with a glazing medium over lighter, dry foundational layers. Light travels through the transparent paint and reflects off the base, creating a deep, luminous, optical glow.

Rembrandt offers a specific selection of whites with different properties and applications:

  • Zinc White: A semi-opaque, cool white. It lightens colours without overpowering or weakening their original hue. Available based on safflower oil (104) for top layers, and linseed oil (117) for lower layers.
  • Titanium White: An opaque, warm white. Excellent for toning down intense colours and creating strong, opaque mixing shades. Available based on safflower oil (105) for top layers, and linseed oil (118) for lower layers.
  • Mixed White: A neutral white containing both zinc and titanium pigments. Based on safflower oil.
  • Transparent White: A transparent white that lightens transparent colours without making them chalky. Perfect for glazing techniques. Based on safflower oil.
  • Pearl White: A transparent white that adds a beautiful iridescent sheen. Works best when mixed with other transparent colours. Based on safflower oil.

Linseed vs. Safflower Oil – How does the binder affect the paint? In addition to the pigments used, the binder oil significantly impacts the paint's properties. Because linseed oil has a natural tendency to yellow slightly over time, it is sometimes replaced by safflower oil—particularly in white paints. Safflower oil is much less prone to yellowing, making it ideal for the top, final layers of your painting. However, safflower oil dries more slowly. Therefore, it is less suitable for thickly painted areas (impasto) or the foundational lower layers of a painting. For lower layers, we strongly recommend using a white paint based on linseed oil (shades 117 and 118).

The collection of certain personal data, such as address information, is necessary for the delivery of products ordered from the online store. We are committed to protecting the privacy of our customers and website users in accordance with the Personal Data Act, the Act on Electronic Communications Services, and other applicable legislation. The customer/user accepts this data protection clause by using our website/services.

When ordering a product/service from Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike, we gain access to the information provided by the customer, including address, phone number, email address, and information related to the customer relationship, such as billing and payment information, product and order information, customer feedback and contacts, and cancellation information. Personal data is collected from the user themselves during ordering or registration or later during the customer relationship. Payment Terms

Purchases are delivered to the customer after information about the payment has been transmitted to the online store. Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike is not responsible for payment delays caused by the systems of banks, credit institutions, or other payment intermediaries and online service providers. In Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike's online store, the payment terms follow the regulations in force in Finland concerning consumer sales, consumer trade, and online retail.

Payment Service Provider

Our webstore uses external payment service providers to process payments. When a customer makes a purchase and selects a payment method, we share the necessary information, such as name, address, email address, phone number, purchase amount, and other payment-related information, with the payment service provider to complete the transaction and to prevent fraud. Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike does not have access to payment card details or online banking credentials.

The payment service providers we use are:

  • Kustom Checkout with Stripe Address: Brahegatan 10, 114 37 Stockholm, Sweden. When you choose to pay by online bank, credit card, Mobilepay, or with Klarna Invoice, Klarna Part Payment, or Klarna Pay Later, your personal data, such as contact and order information, is processed so that your creditworthiness can be assesed, offer you suitable payment options, and tailor payment terms. Stripe securely processes all payments made through Kustom Checkout. This applies to all the available payment methods. Stripe is regulated in Europe and is authorised by the Central Bank of Ireland (reference number: C187865) as an electronic money institution (EMI). It is legally permitted to issue electronic money, execute payment transactions, issue payment instruments, and acquire payment transactions. See the Central Bank of Ireland’s register for more information.
  • PayPal (Europe) S.à r.l. et Cie, S.C.A. Address: 22-24 Boulevard Royal, L-2449 Luxembourg. When you choose PayPal as your payment method, your personal data is transferred to PayPal for payment processing. This may include your name, email address, postal address, phone number, and order details.

The transfer of your personal data to these service providers is based on processing the order, enabling the payment, and fraud prevention.

We recommend that you also carefully review the privacy policies of these payment service providers to understand how they collect, use, and protect your personal data.

Our webstore does not store payment card or online banking credential information; it is processed solely within the payment service provider's systems.

Delivery Terms

Products purchased from Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike's online store are delivered to the customer according to the chosen delivery method. If the ordered products are in stock, the purchases are collected, packed, and sent to the address provided by the customer within three business days from the time the payment information has been transmitted to the online store. If the ordered products are not in stock, the purchases are sent to the customer no later than the next business day after the product arrives from the supplier to Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike's online store's goods reception. The stock situation is visible to the customer in the online store when ordering the product. Estimated delivery time to Finland can be 5 business days and to the EU area 10 business days. Outside the EU area, the estimated delivery time is 10-15 business days.

Products ordered from Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike's online store can be delivered worldwide to official addresses with a fixed, regular access route. Orders placed outside Finland are delivered according to the delivery terms of Posti or a corresponding international transport service. For the delivery of orders placed outside Finland, the legislation of the country of delivery and the regulations of the transport service provider in the country of delivery are followed from the moment the delivery has passed from the sender's responsibility. Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike is not responsible for any delays in transport services outside the Finnish legislative area. Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike is not responsible for any service or handling fees, taxes, customs duties, or other fees that may be collected in the country of delivery.

Delivery Methods

  • Postal Parcel within Finland: The postal parcel is delivered in Finland to the Posti service point (e.g., a Posti outlet or parcel locker) corresponding to the address provided by the customer. Posti will send the recipient an arrival notification via email, SMS, or the Posti mobile app. After the parcel has arrived, the customer must pick it up within the time limit specified by the service point. Parcels not picked up within the deadline will be returned to Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike. For uncollected orders, we comply with the current Finnish regulations on consumer sales, consumer trade, and e-commerce. The terms regarding the storage and pick-up of postal parcels are defined by Posti at posti.fi.
  • Pick-Up Parcel to Sweden or Denmark: Delivery to a selected pick-up point in Sweden or Denmark. The recipient will be notified of the parcel's arrival by the local transport service. The parcel can be picked up within the timeframe specified by the pick-up point. Uncollected parcels will be returned to the sender.
  • EU Parcel: Delivery within the EU. The parcel is delivered to the recipient according to the practices of the destination country, usually by the local postal or courier service, either directly to the delivery address or to a pick-up point. The recipient will be notified of the delivery. Delivery times and methods may vary by country.
  • Home Delivery in Finland: The parcel is delivered directly to the delivery address provided by the customer in Finland. Posti or another transport service will contact the recipient to agree on a delivery time or provide an estimated delivery window. Please ensure someone is present to receive the parcel at the agreed time.
  • Pick-up from Store: When choosing store pick-up as the delivery method, the order is collected and packed within 1–3 business days, provided all ordered items are in stock. If the order or any part of it is out of stock, the order will be collected and packed no later than the next business day after the product arrives from the supplier at the Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike online store's goods receipt. The stock situation is visible in the online store when ordering the product.
    • When choosing this delivery method, the customer must provide a phone number. The customer will be notified via SMS when the order is ready for pick-up at the store located at Itäinen Pitkäkatu 31a, 20100 Turku. Important: The SMS notification is sent to the phone number provided by the customer. We highly recommend verifying that the number is correct.
    • We store uncollected store pick-up orders at the store for 3 months. For uncollected orders, the Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike online store complies with the current Finnish regulations on consumer sales, consumer trade, and e-commerce.
  • Parcel Worldwide: Delivery worldwide to official addresses with standard, fixed transport connections. The parcel is delivered according to the destination country's practices to a local postal or customs service point, or directly to the delivery address. The recipient will be notified of the delivery. Delivery times and methods vary by country. The customer is responsible for any potential service or handling fees, taxes, customs duties, or other charges levied by the destination country.
  • Letter: Shipments weighing less than 2 kg and up to 9 cm thick can be delivered as a letter to the mailbox. If the letter does not fit in the mailbox, it will be delivered to the nearest Posti service point corresponding to the customer's address, and the mail carrier will leave a separate notice. Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike reserves the right to deliver a letter shipment as a postal parcel if the quality or size of the product requires it. When choosing letter delivery, the customer is responsible for ensuring the shipment can withstand mailbox storage.
  • Courier Service or Other Delivery Method: Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike reserves the right to deliver shipments using a courier service or another delivery method of its choice if the quality, size, or any other justified reason regarding the product requires it.

Order Cancellation, Exchange, and Return Terms

Please note that failing to collect a package is not considered a valid customer return under the Finnish Consumer Protection Act. We comply with the Finnish Consumer Protection Act and EU regulations, according to which the cancellation or return of an order always requires a separate, clear notification. For uncollected packages that are returned to us without a cancellation notice, we charge a fee consisting of the two-way shipping and handling costs. This amount will be deducted from the refunded purchase amount.

  • The customer has 14 days to inspect the ordered products. If the customer wishes to cancel the purchase, they have the right to cancel or modify their order, or exchange the ordered product for another within 14 days of receiving the order.
  • The right of return, exchange, or cancellation does not apply to a product specifically ordered at the buyer's request that is not part of the normal selection.
  • The 14-day right of cancellation, modification, or exchange applies to unused products that are in their original condition and resalable, and that are returned observing general care and diligence.
  • The customer has the right to return an incorrect delivery or a defective product within 14 days of receiving the order.
  • The goods must be returned no later than 14 days after making the cancellation notification.
  • During the cancellation, exchange, and return period, the customer must check the ordered products for their condition and quantity, and ensure they have received the correct delivery.
  • Returned products and packaging must be unopened, and the customer must handle the products with care until a final purchase decision is made. Labels on returned products and packaging must not be detached or removed. When cancelling a purchase, the customer must return all parts belonging to the product and packaging undamaged.
  • The customer must exchange or return the product or shipment by following the Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike online store's exchange and return instructions. The customer's purchase will be refunded within 14 days via the payment method originally used by the customer.
    • Payment card: Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike will refund the customer's payment card via the credit card company.
    • Online bank payment: The money will be refunded to the bank account. In this case, the customer must provide their account number on the return notification attached to the packing slip that came with the order.
  • Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike is not responsible for payment delays caused by the systems of banks, credit institutions, or other payment intermediaries.
  • Shipping costs will not be refunded if the return only applies to a part of the ordered products. When returning the entire order, the standard postal costs of the order will be refunded.
  • Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike is not responsible for damages to returns packed carelessly or negligently. Costs arising from an error on the customer's part will be charged to the customer. The customer is responsible for delays, as well as postal and handling costs, caused by a return made contrary to the return instructions.
  • Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike reserves the right to refuse refunds for products and shipments returned contrary to the instructions, and to send the items back to the customer.
  • In addition to these order cancellation, exchange, and return terms, the Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike online store complies with the current Finnish regulations concerning consumer sales, consumer trade, and e-commerce.

Reclamation Instructions

  • If we have sent a defective product or the customer has received the wrong product, the item must be returned according to the return instructions.
  • In the case of a defective product, the return notification attached to the packing slip included with the order must be filled out, indicating the defect in the product or order. A description of the defect must be noted on the return notification.
  • Depending on the manufacturer, some products in the Itäisenkadun Taidetarvike online store may have different warranty exchange and service practices. If a defect appears in the product you purchased, return the product according to the return instructions or contact our customer service to clarify potential warranty exchange or service procedures.
