Add dimension and texture to your art. Liquitex Modeling Paste is an acrylic medium designed to create 3D forms, heavy textures, and sculptural effects on your painting surface. It allows you to build structures that rise from the canvas.
This opaque white paste can be applied with a palette knife, trowel, or brush. Once dry, it creates a rock-hard foundation (excluding the Light version) that can be sanded, drilled, or carved.

Liquitex Professional Flexible Modeling Paste: Acrylic + marble dust, but with a more flexible binder. Best for canvas, flexible surfaces, and projects where you want to ensure the surface doesn’t crack. Use for shapes that require flexibility.
Liquitex Basics Modeling Paste: Great value for students and beginners. Offers similar properties to the Professional version, drying to a hard, stone-like finish that can be sanded. Perfect for experimenting with texture.
Liquitex Basics Light Modeling Paste: For high impact without the weight. This airy, lightweight putty is formulated for building very thick layers without adding significant weight to the artwork. Ideal for large-scale works. Note: Due to its airy consistency, it is less suitable for detailed carving than the heavier pastes.
Usage Tips:
Use on rigid supports (wood, board) as the paste dries very hard and may crack on flexible surfaces if applied thickly.
For sculptural effects, build up thin layers, allowing each to dry before adding the next. This prevents shrinkage cracks.
Sand with sandpaper after drying to smooth out ridges or create texture.
